Living history club «Cohors II Mattiacorum (equitata)»

About us
Our club is busy with re-enactment of Ancient Roman cohort of auxiliary troops, which was a part of fifth Macedonian legion at our period of time. Recreation period is from the end of first century a.d. till the beginning of second century a.d. Our cohort was being the mix of infantry and cavalry. Also it has had an archery century. That is why there are several ways of reconstruction possible. Yet, we are planning to form scorpion’s crew. Our club closely cooperates with S.Peterburg’s “5 Macedonian legion” club. This cooperation includes experience exchange and numerous actions.
Club’s purposes
Recreation of figure of auxiliary warrior with his armour, clothing, weapons. Rugged terrain marches and battles modeling, participation in living-history festivals. Most of all we are being attracted by opportunity to check ourselves in one formation by standing shoulder to shoulder with your brothers-in-arms, dressed in identical clothes and armour, rendering ancient roman troop’s tactics, and test our strength in many days marches with all ammo of regular warrior on your back.

Weapons and armor
Lorica-hamata as armor. Auxiliary infantry type C helmet. Pompeanus gladius, type A or B pugio. Clipei shield. Spear (Gasta).
Club’s Personnel
By this time our club consists of 16 warriors and 6 ladies, who are recreating townswomans of Mesia province. We’ve got both novices and experienced re-enactors of medieval history from such clubs as ‘Semargl’ and “Bayard”.
